I feel like the most amazing/surprising thing about assassination photos is how utterly empty the surrounding is. There are maybe eight people in those first two photos. I've always thought--naively--that for an event with such historical implication to occur the crowd must also be historic. Of course it's silly, but until I saw those I didn't realize how silly it was.</description>
