Yes f2.8 would have been nice, but given that the DP-1 should deliver a much more useable ISO 800, hopefully 1600 result than any other compact digicam, I can live with it. Unless you pay top dollar you aren't going to get a DSLR zoom that starts faster than f3.5 anyway - so what is the fuss over half a stop? For me the price is going to be the crucial factor - if they charge as much as an entry level DSLR then they may find sales disappointing. But since Sigma have shown a listening ear and changed the design to have a hot shoe and an external finder, maybe one can hope for a realistic price.
Now - where are those sample pictures?

Assuming the ISO will usualy be at 400 or higher anyway, the f/4 doesn't seem that big a deal. You'd be at f/8 in the shadows or higher elsewhere. And in manual exposure. And manual focus, with a ton of DoF.

I expect Voigtlander's churning out an extra-large batch of 28mm minifinders.

But it does use the Foveon sensor, which makes it one of the first cameras to use it that I'm aware of.

I don't know why everyone's hung up on full-frame sensors, especially since this isn't an interchangeable lens. But yes, why such a slow lens?

Thanks for clearing that up. Strange that it isn't a faster lens, yes.

Very interesting camera.
But it isn't a full-frame, it has an APS size sensor (~ X1.4).

too bad the lens isn;t too fast, it would be much better to have f/2.8 or so... even if that means a little bigger camera.
