Access. Yes. Communicating. Exchanging words. Not just stealing a picture of some soul barely encountered.

I was shooting out behind McCabe Hall during the Gamers' Convention in San Jose and as I walked back to my workspace from what turned out to be not much luck in the way of pictures, I heard this guy ask me what kind of camera I was using. He was taking a break from something related to the conference, having a smoke on the patio behind Parkside Hall. We entered into a ten-minute conversation about digital vs. film and each other’s camera collection. Nice, talkative guy. I asked his name and asked if he'd mind if I got a shot of his mug. He was okay with it. I did. I gave him my photoblog card and we each went on with our day. This time I didn't engage my subject - he called out to me.
